Mobile e-Services is a sole-trader consultancy that grew out of the contribution Garry made to Hewlett-Packard Co. across the world for over 33 years in the test & measurement, and computer industries.
Since graduating at Strathclyde University he has studied and practised the design, development, marketing and deployment of high-technology solutions with many based on wireless technology.
His professional career started in Norway working on military wireless portable communication units. The job was as a Technical Author during which he documented both the technical design as well as wrote user and support documentation in English. Before moving to HP he had authored his first set of Norwegian manuals and gained valuable experience in electronic design techniques in the development of miniature radio units. This also helped develop his interest in radio, electronics and computing as life long hobbies. This was an excellent basis of all the work he did with Siemens, Ericsson and HP since. Altogether this has allowed him to participate in building the entire high-technology product value chain - that is, design, intellectual property rights, technology, development, project planning, and documentation of both user and support needs.
In addition, having been a key industry liasion with HP R&D Laboratories across the world for many years he was intimately involved in numerous inventions and shares a number of patents in the telecommunications area.
The last two positions he held within HP was as an e-Service Solution Architect helping start-ups and small-to-mediaum businesses identify how wireless technologies such as GSM, GPRS, 3G, WiFi, WiMax, Bluetooth, ZigBee etc can contribute to their business; and as a futurist looking at new services on-behalf of a large UK based Systems Integrator.
No surprise that Mobile e-Services' mission is in "making wireless useful!"
That is, I help companies - many start ups - to make use of the wireless technologies. My main focus is on the prime application area. I discovered this through many engagements where I helped develop different areas of the supply chain from wireless network infrastructure, application service providers, core network signalling etc. It is now quite clear to me that the whole communications/entertainment supply chain cannot be driven without the key content and/or application developer.
